Luke 8:15
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop“
This passage was taken from the parable of the sower, basically saying not to be mere listener’s but doer’s of the word.
I got the prayer and fasting booklet yesterday from my church, Eaglepoint, where a question was asked. “What are two words will you use to describe the kind of heart you want to have for God in replacement of the word “religiosity”?”
To me the two words would be a “noble” and “good heart” as what Dr. Luke mention in Chapter 8.
But my blog isn’t about the 2 words I just mentioned but a word mentioned towards the very end of the verse which is “Persevering” or in other words, Perseverance.
Perseverance means:
continued steady belief or efforts, withstanding discouragement or difficulty.
Other translation say
“As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience“
So in other words, if I were to interpret what Luke was trying to say is that “Hey, you heard me. Act on what you hear and be patient regardless of the circumstances and reap the benefits”
Now I have no idea how 2011 was for everyone, but my 2011 was so and so. It surely didn’t match my 2010 or my 2009. I longed for things to happen last year but didn’t get to see them take place.
Reading this passage encouraged and reminded me about persevering in life. It’s tough. At times, I really feel like giving up on certain things. Well, I believe in not only a good God but a Great God. I believe I will not only see but “Do” great things in 2012.
If you’ve heard a promise from God, hold on to that promise and persevere. It will come to pass!
